Storytelling & Opinion Templates

Part 4 yêu cầu thí sinh trả lời 3 câu hỏi xoay quanh một chủ đề. Đây là phần cần khả năng phát triển ý, kể chuyện và duy trì mạch nói trong thời gian giới hạn.

Thay vì cố gắng nghĩ ra một câu trả lời hoàn toàn mới cho từng đề, hãy xây dựng câu trả lời theo một cấu trúc cố định và thay đổi nội dung theo chủ đề.

🎯 1. TWO COMMON QUESTION TYPES

Part 4 thường có thể được triển khai theo hai hướng chính:

1️⃣ STORYTELLING – Kể lại một trải nghiệm

Dạng câu hỏi yêu cầu bạn kể về một sự kiện hoặc trải nghiệm trong quá khứ.

Ví dụ:

• Describe a memorable trip you had.

• Tell me about a time when you helped someone.

• Describe an interesting experience you had.

• Tell me about a time when something unexpected happened.

👉 Chiến thuật: Dành phần lớn thời gian cho câu hỏi yêu cầu kể lại trải nghiệm, sau đó trả lời ngắn gọn và trực tiếp các câu hỏi mở rộng.

2️⃣ PERSONAL OPINION – Đưa ra quan điểm cá nhân

Dạng này yêu cầu bạn trình bày ý kiến, lý do và quan điểm cá nhân về một vấn đề.

Ví dụ:

• Do you think travelling is important?

• What are the advantages of learning English?

• Should people spend more time with their families?

👉 Với dạng này, nên phân bổ thời gian tương đối đều cho cả 3 câu hỏi.

🎬 2. STORYTELLING TEMPLATE

Đây là cấu trúc hữu ích nhất khi gặp câu hỏi yêu cầu kể lại một trải nghiệm:

INTRODUCTION → WHEN → WHERE → WHO → WHAT HAPPENED → OUTCOME → FEELINGS → LESSON

Bạn không nhất thiết phải sử dụng tất cả các bước. Hãy chọn những phần phù hợp với câu hỏi và thời gian còn lại.

🎬 STEP 1. INTRODUCTION

Thay vì đi thẳng vào câu chuyện ngay lập tức, có thể sử dụng một câu mở đầu để giới thiệu trải nghiệm.

Sau đó đi thẳng vào nội dung chính:

...went on a memorable trip with my family.

...helped one of my friends.

...experienced something unexpected.

💡 Tip: Phần mở đầu chỉ nên kéo dài khoảng 20–30 giây. Không nên dành quá nhiều thời gian cho phần introduction.

⏳ STEP 2. BUILD THE STORY

Nếu chưa biết bắt đầu từ đâu, hãy tự hỏi:

🗓️ WHEN?

It happened about two months ago.

It was last summer.

I remember it happened when I was...

Nếu không nhớ chính xác:

I don't remember the exact date, but I think it was about two months ago.

📍 WHERE?

It happened when I went to...

The experience took place in...

I was in... at the time.

👥 WHO?

I was with my family.

I went there with one of my close friends.

I was accompanied by...

I went there with...

❓ WHAT HAPPENED?

Đây là phần quan trọng nhất của câu chuyện.

Hãy tập trung trả lời:

What happened?

Có thể sử dụng các từ nối để kể chuyện theo trình tự:

At first,...

Then,...

After that,...

Suddenly,...

Unfortunately,...

Luckily,...

Eventually,...

Example

At first, everything was going well. However, something unexpected happened. Then, we had to... Luckily, we managed to solve the problem in the end.

🏁 STEP 3. OUTCOME

Một câu chuyện sẽ tự nhiên hơn nếu có kết quả hoặc cách giải quyết.

Useful expressions

In the end, we managed to solve the problem.

Eventually, everything worked out well.

Fortunately, things turned out better than I expected.

After that, everything went back to normal.

❤️ STEP 4. FEELINGS

Sau khi kể lại sự kiện, hãy nói cảm xúc của bạn.

Positive

Honestly, I felt really happy and excited.

I was absolutely delighted.

I felt proud of myself.

I was over the moon.

Negative

At first, I felt quite nervous.

I was really disappointed.

I felt stressed and confused.

Change of emotion

Đây là cách phát triển câu trả lời tự nhiên hơn:

At first, I felt quite nervous because I didn't know what to do. However, after we solved the problem, I felt really relieved and happy.

🤔 STEP 5. WHY WAS IT IMPORTANT?

Nếu còn thời gian, hãy giải thích tại sao trải nghiệm đó đáng nhớ.

I think this experience was important to me because it taught me how to...

It helped me become more confident.

It taught me an important lesson about...

It gave me a better understanding of...

It helped me become more mature and independent.

💎 3. EXTEND YOUR STORY

Nếu đã hoàn thành phần chính nhưng vẫn còn thời gian, hãy mở rộng theo một trong ba hướng:

📚 Lesson Learned

The most important thing I learned from this experience was that...

🌱 Personal Growth

💬 4. ANSWERING THE FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS

Khi chuyển sang câu hỏi tiếp theo, không cần kể lại toàn bộ câu chuyện.

Hãy:

STEP 1 – Acknowledge the Question

If you ask me whether..., I'd say that...

Hoặc đơn giản hơn:

In my opinion,...

Personally, I think...

STEP 2 – Give Your Answer

I would say that it is definitely important because...

I think it is preferable because...

Personally, I believe that...

STEP 3 – Give a Reason

Một số linking expressions hữu ích:

as...

Với dạng câu hỏi yêu cầu quan điểm cá nhân, hãy sử dụng cấu trúc:

⏱️ 6. TIME MANAGEMENT

🎬 Storytelling Questions

Khi câu hỏi đầu tiên yêu cầu kể lại một trải nghiệm, hãy dành phần lớn thời gian cho câu chuyện.

Ưu tiên:

Introduction → Main Event → Outcome → Feelings

Sau đó trả lời các câu hỏi mở rộng ngắn gọn nhưng có lý do.

💡 Opinion Questions

Nếu cả 3 câu đều yêu cầu quan điểm, hãy phân bổ thời gian tương đối đều:

Question 1 → Question 2 → Question 3

Mỗi câu nên có:

Answer + Reason + Example

⚠️ Quan trọng: Đừng cố kéo dài câu trả lời bằng những câu không liên quan. Speaking tốt không phải là nói càng nhiều càng tốt, mà là nói đủ ý, có tổ chức và duy trì được mạch nói.

Nếu bí ý tưởng, hãy tự hỏi 4 câu:

Does this affect people's physical or mental health?

🤝 RELATIONSHIPS

Can this help people build stronger relationships?

Can people learn something from this experience?

How does this experience make people feel?

Sau đó chọn 1–2 khía cạnh dễ phát triển nhất.

🚀 8. THE “BẺ LÁI” FORMULA

Khi không biết nói gì tiếp, hãy chuyển từ sự kiện → cảm xúc → ý nghĩa:

WHAT HAPPENED

↓
WHAT I LEARNED
↓
WHY IT MATTERS

Example

I missed my bus and arrived late.
↓
At first, I felt really stressed.
↓
However, I learned that I should always plan my journey carefully.

Đây là cách mở rộng câu trả lời có nội dung, thay vì chỉ lặp lại các câu mô tả.

🏁 9. ENDING

Không cần một đoạn kết quá dài. Khi đã hoàn thành ý, có thể kết thúc tự nhiên:

Overall, it was a memorable experience, and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to learn from it.

Hoặc:

That's why this experience remains one of the most memorable moments in my life.

💡 Tip: Không cần nói những câu như “My speaking skill is not perfect” hoặc xin lỗi giám khảo. Hãy kết thúc câu trả lời tự tin và tự nhiên.
